I've been going through so many moments of reconsideration on career, lifestyle, friends and this is a quote that I ran across via Instagram that really spoke out to me. In life we run into a ton of different types of people; inspiring people, ambitious, strong, lazy, people who always have excuses, are always tardy, perfect people, imperfect people ... the list goes on and on and on.

And through it all, it's extremely hard not to compare or see who I should be "more like" or "less like" and what goals to aim for and what direction to not go in. But this quote, this quote speaks volume to me because when we focus too much on success, I feel like we only consider one person... yourself. What does that do to an individual in the end? It made me really think about why I choose to do something, why I choose to work with who I work with and who I choose to surround myself around.

Am I doing it for myself so I can get farther in life? Or should I be doing it to help individuals in my life? In the end, do we want to finish the race on our own or do we want to finish the race with individuals we've touched along the way? Is life about struggling on your own to get to where you want to be?

It's been hard... and maybe I've been overthinking relationships and have too high of expectations or too low. I do know though that sometimes when people aren't meant to be in your life, you can try as hard to keep them in there but they won't stay. And I've had moments where I thought I was helping a friend out when in reality I ended up giving them an opportunity that they sought as something for themselves.

People & Perspectives... what a challenging, ugly, beautiful world.
